California’s COVID-19 Safety Guidelines (updated 3/14/2023)
Contra Costa County follows the State of California’s COVID-19 guidance. The State requires masks for all people in some indoor settings, including healthcare, long-term care and adult senior care settings, and recommends masking based on CDC's COVID-19 community levels. The State also has isolation and quarantine guidance, a travel advisory for all people coming into California and recommendations for mega-events.

COVID-19 Vaccination (updated 3/2/2023)
COVID-19 vaccines protect against severe illness, hospitalization and death by teaching our bodies how to fight the virus. Safe, effective, free COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are available to everyone ages 6 months and older. Everyone should stay up-to-date on vaccinations by getting booster shots when eligible.
Masking (updated 12/12/2022)
Contra Costa County follows the State of California’s masking guidance. Everyone should follow masking recommendations based on COVID-19 community levels. The State requires everyone to wear masks in health care, long-term care and adult senior care settings.
COVID-19 Testing (updated 3/13/2023)
If you have COVID-19 symptoms, get tested right away and stay home except for medical care.People can use a home test or get tested at a testing site. People with health insurance should go to their healthcare provider or a commerical testing site. People without insurance can walk into the county health centers for COVID-19 services. Visit our Home Tests page for a list of where to get free at-home COVID-19 tests.
If you test positive for COVID-19, treatment may be available. Contact your healthcare provider or call the Contra Costa County Health Advice Nurse at 877-661-6230 right away to talk about treatment, or visit a test to treat location. Don’t delay, even if your symptoms are mild right now – treatment must be started within the first few days to be effective.
